Stan the man Carrier brought in a gorgeous 1/35 Meng AMX 30 B2. This French model represents the 44th Dragoon Regiment in the 1991 Gulf War in French Army service. Painted with Tamiya and Ammo paints. Has a 105 mm barrel. The links are workable and look great. This is a fabulous model!! Great job, Stan!
Yes, you are seeing double! The 1/24 car on the left JR was constructed in 1984 and this is the first time we have seen it. The sprint car was raced in 1983 by George McCord. The car on the right he just finished. I have lost track of what features each car had so I will just copy what JR wrote and you can figure it out!: Started W/Monogram sprint car. Built mostly stock, he changed a couple of bars on the frame, built new hood, foot guard panels, nerf bars, R.S. Top wing side and both sides of nose wing. Hand painted numbers and sponsors. The frame was painted with Krylon gloss black, the body with Testors white and red, and the wing with Testors metallic silver. Decals were from the spares box. I feel like I’ve got two cars on one writeup. You figure it out! 😉 In an regards, they are fantastic!
This is his Tamiya P-38G Lightning” which he says is the best kit in the world. For Doug to say that, it must be!! It Painted with Hataka Orange Line Lacquer, Qunitas 3D interior, Ultracast resin seat, kit decals, and weathered with Ammo by Mig washes and pastels. I was so impressed I told everybody I wanted to build one. Doug, always the diplomat, says, “Hey stupid, you already built it!” Huh? I thought he was crazy…but when I got home, he had sent photos of MY model from 2020!!! I know my memory is gone, but how in the hell can he remember something that insignificant from over 5 years ago!!! Something is wrong with that guy!! I’ll throw in photos of my model. I don’t believe this guy…he never ceases to amaze me.
Spencer Kosc showed off his 1/48 Academy/Minicraft F-5E reconnaissance aircraft. Come on…you know what they say…if it looks like a P-38, and it flies like a P-38, and it sounds like a P-38…then it probably is a P-38! He used decals from the spares box. Spencer said it was bad kit, and the vinyl tires ate the plastic wheels which he replaced with Res-Kit. Tamiya paint was utilized. The scheme is a blend of several different aircraft examples. It is beautiful P-38…eh…F-5E!
Here is his Hasegawa P-47D-30 Bubbletop Thunderbolt panted with Gunze Mr. Color, Quickboost resin seat, Superscale decals, and weathered with Ammo by Mig washes and pastels. He used the insulation off a wire for the gun barrels…Clever!
Mark Jahsan showed off his 1/24-1/25 cars! On the left is his AMT Mercury Cyclone which had the first tubular frame and a one-piece fiberglass body funny car. Kit was for an altered wheelbase car, had to move the rear wheels back. Found the frame on eBay and used the kit decals. The other car started life as a a 1/24 Monogram 1970 Mustang Street Boss 302 converted to Pro Stock. Driven by Bob Blidden, winningest (spell check says that’s not a word, Mark!) 😉NARA driver when he retired in 1997. Decals by Fred Cady and the 3D wheels by Meca Machine. Amazing!
Home of the modeling savants....Celebrating forty years of modeling fun, education, and history in 2025!
Tom Miller displayed his 1/35 Dragon T19 105mm Howitzer. He used Ammo paint. pigments and mud. Check out that mud! Once again, if it looks like a halftrack, and drives like a halftrack, and sounds like a halftrack, then it must be a halftrack!!!! Great job, Tom!
Next we have Spencer’s 1/72 Hasegawa S3A Viking. Inlet decals were from Superscale and the balance from ?? Aviation. Built OOB and paint from Tamiya. He said the decals were bad. This is a great model of a unique aircraft…thanks, Spencer.
Finally, it is time for the ten-finger wizardry of Mr. Seekman. All three WWII aircraft are 1/48 scale. First is his Airfix KP-51D Mustang. It was painted with Gunze Mr. Color, Qunitas 3D printed interior, Ultracast resin seat, Lifelike Decals. It was weathered with Ammo by Mig washes and pastels. Look it over, it is amazing/
