Home of the modeling savants....Celebrating forty years of modeling fun, education, and history in 2025!

Tom Miller proudly showed off his 1/35 Tamiya A-34 Comet British Cruiser medium tank.  This was the last tank model introduced by the British during WWII.  It was A Squadron II Armored Division.  DEF Model canvas cover and gun barrel, markings Echelon, Valve Gear Storage, Ammo paint.  He didn’t mention the figures but they are cool!

We will start off with professional modeler Doug Seekman who just finished this contract build for Tom Ralya.  Tom will be pleased!  This beauty is the 1/18 Morgan 3-Wheeler from Minicraft.  Doug said it was a nasty kit and required quite of bit of finagling and customization.  I think Tom owes him more money!!!  The paint job was a real chore…used those little Testor’s enamel paints which required two weeks to dry.  I think Tom owes him more money!  The color is a custom mix.    It was weathered with Ammo by Mig washes.  The wheels were a particular pain but Doug did a magnificent job!

.See you all at the Ridout and back here in two weeks!  Good luck to TRIAD!!!

This is another nasty kit from around 2002 from Special Hobby 1/72 Ju-388L…but Doug says there is nothing Special about it!  It was painted with  Ak-3G acrylic paint, kit decals, weathered with Ammo by Mig washes & pastels.  Doug says it was an “adequate kit”.  Sure looks better than that.

That Mark Jahsan, you never know what he is going to walk through the door with!  1/25 Mustangs, 1/350 vignettes, or a giant 1/72 WWI destroyer!  Mark purchased this Combat Models kit back in 1985-1992 and will be the USS Ward DD-139 which destroyed the Japanese minisub near Pearl Harbor.  The hull is a two-piece vacuum form and he built the plywood bulkheads.  EVERYTHING has to be scratchbuilt.  He hopes to have it ready in a year and a half for the GR contest.  I can’t wait to see it finished.  I’m sure he’ll provide progress updates!  You can see Mark Welch is enjoying it!
